Based on the true story of the Czech ghetto, Terezin, Signs of Life tells one of the most fascinating and least known stories of the Holocaust. Originally a military town, it was later transformed into a so-called model “City for the Jews,” used to house prominent European artists and musicians. In an attempt to deceive the international Red Cross and sway public opinion, the inhabitants were forced to “beautify” the ghetto. Signs of Life portrays their struggles as they grapple with the question, “When survival depends on hiding the truth, how does the truth survive?” Signs of Life demonstrates the power of art to affirm the human spirit and sense of community, even under the most dehumanizing circumstances.
"A lot of talent and some fine voices are on display in Signs of Life."
