Michael is the Artistic Director of The Gift Theater, and a celebrated Chicago actor who plays Dr. Gabriel Fife, a recurring guest star on ABC’s Private Practice. He and his buddies in Natural Gas have a standing improv set on Wednesdays at his home theater. But Michael is joining forces with Crip Slam for this night of comedy in part because, during his recovery from a spinal stroke in 2003, improv became “a tremendous healing agent” for him. This is a “hands on” Crip Slam! Audience participation is encouraged: Natural Gas performs based on audience suggestions (so be ready to be creative); and prior to the performance, patrons are invited to email Mike Ervin (mervin@victorygardens.org) a regular day-in-the-life story from your own life. These literary gems will be tossed into the hat and, that night, Natural Gas will choose a story as the basis for an improv. And as if that is not enough…the two Michaels will engage in a freewheeling post play conversation…audience questions required. Sign Language interpretation and Audio Description will be provided and the theater is totally accessible. |
