Our Training Center ontinues to cultivate budding artists and at the same time encourage and nurture more experienced ones. As you can see by the diversity of our professional instructors and the variety of our classes, we believe that in the realm of theater training there is no one particular approach that will work for all people. We are confident that you will find a class to both challenge and inspire you. We invite you to come grow with us and reap the rewards of kindling your creativity.

New for this 2008-09 season, we will be conducting classes at Victory Gardens Biograph Theater at 2433 North Lincoln Avenue on a regular basis. These class offerings will be focused on three key areas:
- Playwriting: As Chicago’s premiere center for new plays, Victory Gardens embraces a tradition focusing on playwrights and their work. Workshops and classes will be offered for people wishing to write for the theater, as well as for actors and other theater practitioners wishing to expand their knowledge and experience with the craft of playwriting. These classes will be taught by our ensemble playwrights and staff.
- Working Actors: We will offer classes for people pursuing their careers in professional or semi-professional theater to fine-tune their skills, to acquire new ones and to provide interaction and networking opportunities with fellow artists.
- Community at large: The VG philosophy has always been that in the realm of theater training there is no one particular approach that will work for everyone. We are extending that philosophy by diversifying programming into the realm of the theater-goer. Our staff and teaching artists will conduct classes and workshops in theater appreciation, script analysis, production values, the technical process, acting technique and other areas to strengthen and enhance individual participation in theater as an artist and as an audience member.
The Greenhouse Theater at 2257 North Lincoln Avenue is under new ownership and will continue to be a center for classes as well as for a variety of producing theater companies. The range of classes there will be for beginning to advanced actors to have the opportunity to learn new skills, build on their experience, and grow with other artists.
